How Our Waiting List Works:
After you submit your application, we will contact you promptly to discuss litter options and availability. It is very helpful to us if you can tell us which litter's waiting list you would like to be added to.
We will email you an invoice for the $250 *****NON-REFUNDABLE***** waiting list fee. This fee goes towards the price of your puppy but can not be refunded should you chose not to move forward.
If you are on the list for a future litter, we will send updates via email and Facebook once the dam (mom) has been bred, once we have confirmed the preganancy via ultrasound and when the puppies have been born.
Within just a few days of the puppies being born, we will send out a litter itinerary with all the dates and information you'll need to know. It will look something like this:
Litter Itinerary and Important Information Litter: Calisto x Bing F1 Sheepadoodle Birth Date: 8/11/19 6 Week Vet Appt: 9/23 Selection Day: 9/24 Original Go Home Day: Friday 10/4 11-12pm Alternate Go Home Day: Saturday 10/5 11-12pm Training Go Home Day: Friday Friday 11/1/19 Alternate Training Go Home Day: Saturday 11/2/19 HOW WE DO PUPPY SELECTION The puppies are here and are doing great! Above, you can see the schedule for this litter. We will not do puppy picks until after the 6 week vet appt. After the 6 week vet appointment, we will contact everyone on the waiting list via email and remind you that it is time for puppy selection. Those on the waiting list will need to email us your top 3 puppy picks. You will select your puppy based off of videos, photos and personality/temperament descriptions. You also have the option to pass on this litter and wait for a future litter. We will respond to your email in the order in which we received your deposit to let you know which puppy (based on your preference list) you get to call YOURS! Once you have chosen your puppy, you will receive an invoice in your email for the remaining balance owed. This needs to be paid the same day. The puppy is not yours until it is paid for in full. If you do not pay for your puppy in full, we have the right to sell it to someone else. So, please pay the invoices promptly so that you can call that puppy yours! TLC PET FOOD AUTO-SHIPMENT In the next couple of weeks, you will receive an email to sign up for TLC Whole Life Natural Dog Food. (We do not use the puppy food formula as the whole life formula is for all life stages.) Please go ahead and schedule your first auto shipment for the dog food for a week before you plan to bring your puppy home. We encourage you to keep the puppies on this food for AT LEAST the first year. We have tried lots of different foods, and this is the BEST food out there for your puppy! Full disclosure, Double U Doodles gets $5 off our dog food purchase for every bag of food our puppy families purchase SATURDAY PICK UP OPTION*** Due to our hectic family schedule, we prefer to send puppies home during the week. However, we also know this may not work for everyone’s schedule, so we offer limited Saturday pick up options. We do charge a $100 weekend pick up fee if you choose not to pick on the original go home date. Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to pick up on Saturday. These are the only two days we have scheduled for picking your puppy up so please make plans to pick your puppy up one of these dates. FIRST VET APPOINTMENT WITHIN 72 HOURS Please remember to get your puppy to the vet within 72 hours of pick up. Also remember that their immune systems are weak until they have been fully vaccinated (around 15 weeks). Until your vet completes their vaccinations, they should not walk in public places, especially places like the pet store, dog park or vet office. PUPPY SUPPLIES You will find a list of necessary puppy supplies on our website under the “About” tab. These are amazon affiliate links and a portion of the sales comes back to us to help us care for our puppies. We would greatly appreciate it if you’d use these links. PUPPY TRAINING PROGRAM We highly recommend that all puppies are enrolled in an early training course to establish a foundation that your puppy will build upon over the months to come. Puppies have a small window of time during brain development when they are most impressionable. This is called the imprinting period. Puppies learn more during their first 16 weeks of life than they can learn in a life time. What they learn during this critical period will have a huge impact on their future personality, behavior and temperament. Each day between 7 and 16 weeks is an opportunity that you can not get back. Our 4 week training program is available for puppies that are 7 weeks and older. The training program focuses on crate, potty, leash and obedience training. We work with your puppy for several hours each day to establish a routine and good behavior habits so that your puppy has the best start in life. During this time, the puppies learn that their crate is their safe place. They usually end up loving their crates which makes the transition into your home a much less stressful time for you and the puppy. The price of this training program is $1000. We have limited spots for training, so please let us know as soon as possible if this is something that your family would like to do. Whew!! That is a lot of information. Let me make it easy and give you a to do list: 1. Mark your calendar for puppy selection day and go home days. 2. Let us know if you would like to enroll your puppy in the early training program. 3. Let us know if you will need to pick up on Saturday. 4. Sign up for TLC Pet Food. 5. Make vet appointment. 6. Buy supplies for your puppy. 7. Send me an email with your top 3 puppy selections on or before selection day. 8. Pay for your puppy promptly when you get the invoice.
Puppy selections take place in the order that the waiting list fees were received, so the early bird gets the worm!
Picking a Puppy
When Do I Get to Pick My Puppy?
Puppy selection takes place after their 6 week vet visit. You get to pick your puppy in the order in which your waiting list fee was received. After the puppies have been examined by our veterinarian, Dr. William McDavid at Cleveland Park Animal Hospital in Traveler's Rest, SC, we will post photos and videos of the puppies on Facebook. An email will be sent out to everyone on the list for the particular litter with important details to note about each puppy, as well as the results of their first check ups. Each person will need to reply with their top 3-4 puppy choices. We will notify each person of which puppy they are getting within 1-2 days after the puppy selection day.
We do our very best to accommodate everyone on the list. However, should you not get one of the puppies that you want, you'll have the option to move to a future litter. The selection process and picking order is never set in stone. It is a fluid process and can get quite complicated. We will work with each one on the list and do our very best to make everyone happy!
Puppy selection takes place based off of the photos and videos that we post on Facebook, as well as their temperament descriptions. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer on-site or in person puppy selections as our puppies are raised at our home and our schedule is quite complex. However, we are always willing to help guide you in the selection process or even schedule an individual Facetime meeting with the puppies should you feel you need more information before making your selection. We hope that you understand and respect our decision in this regard.
Go Home Day
How Does Go Home Day Work?
Go home day is so much fun! As you can see on the sample litter itinerary (2 sections above) we give you as much advanced notice as possible of the go home dates for your litter. We schedule 2 go home days. The original go home day is usually on a Friday. We also offer a Saturday as the alternate go home day and there is a $100 weekend pick up fee to pick up on Saturday? Why? Since we try to preserve the weekends for our family time, if there are puppies going home on Saturday, someone from the Double U Doodles Team will come in on Saturday just for you. This weekend fee goes directly to the person who agrees to come in on their weekend to prepare your puppy for their big day. Again, we hope that you understand and respect our decision in this regard.
If you are flying in to pick your puppy up, we will meet you at:
GSP (Greenville-Spartanburg) Airport for $250 fee
CLT (Charlotte-Douglas) Airport for $300 fee
ATL (Atlanta) for one of your kidneys...I mean $400. (ATL traffic is horrendous, but we will make it work.)
Should you not be able to pick up your puppy on the original or alternate go home dates, we will board your puppy for $50/night.
