How Our Waiting List Works:
After you submit your application, we will contact you promptly to discuss litter options and availability.
We will email you an invoice for the $250 *****NON-REFUNDABLE***** waiting list fee. This fee goes towards the price of your puppy but can not be refunded should you chose not to move forward.
Within just a few days of the puppies being born, we will send out a litter itinerary with all the dates and information you'll need to know. It will look something like this:
Litter Itinerary and Important Information Litter: Calisto x Bing F1 Sheepadoodle Birth Date: 8/11/19 6 Week Vet Appt: 9/23 Original Go Home Day: Friday 10/4 11-12pm Alternate Go Home Day: Saturday 10/5 11-12pm Training Go Home Day: Friday Friday 11/1/19 Alternate Training Go Home Day: Saturday 11/2/19 HOW WE DO PUPPY SELECTION The puppies are here and are doing great! Above, you can see the schedule for this litter. We will do puppy picks between 3 and 4 weeks. Those on the waiting list will need to email us your top 3 puppy picks. You will select your puppy based off of videos and photos. You also have the option to pass on this litter and wait for a future litter. We will respond to your email in the order in which we received your deposit to let you know which puppy (based on your preference list) you get to call YOURS! Once you have chosen your puppy, you will receive an invoice in your email for the remaining balance owed. This needs to be paid the same day. The puppy is not yours until it is paid for in full. If you do not pay for your puppy in full, we have the right to sell it to someone else. So, please pay the invoices promptly so that you can call that puppy yours! TLC PET FOOD AUTO-SHIPMENT In the next couple of weeks, you will receive an email to sign up for TLC Whole Life Natural Dog Food. (We do not use the puppy food formula as the whole life formula is for all life stages.) Please go ahead and schedule your first auto shipment for the dog food for a week before you plan to bring your puppy home. We encourage you to keep the puppies on this food for AT LEAST the first year. We have tried lots of different foods, and this is the BEST food out there for your puppy! Full disclosure, Double U Doodles gets $5 off our dog food purchase for every bag of food our puppy families purchase FIRST VET APPOINTMENT WITHIN 72 HOURS Please remember to get your puppy to the vet within 72 hours of pick up. Also remember that their immune systems are weak until they have been fully vaccinated (around 15 weeks). Until your vet completes their vaccinations, they should not walk in public places, especially places like the pet store, dog park or vet office. PUPPY SUPPLIES You will find a list of necessary puppy supplies on our website under the “About” tab. These are amazon affiliate links and a portion of the sales comes back to us to help us care for our puppies. We would greatly appreciate it if you’d use these links. PUPPY TRAINING PROGRAM We highly recommend that all puppies are enrolled in an early training course to establish a foundation that your puppy will build upon over the months to come. Puppies have a small window of time during brain development when they are most impressionable. This is called the imprinting period. Puppies learn more during their first 16 weeks of life than they can learn in a life time. What they learn during this critical period will have a huge impact on their future personality, behavior and temperament. Each day between 7 and 16 weeks is an opportunity that you can not get back. Our 4 week training program is available for puppies that are 7 weeks and older. The training program focuses on crate, potty, leash and obedience training. We work with your puppy for several hours each day to establish a routine and good behavior habits so that your puppy has the best start in life. During this time, the puppies learn that their crate is their safe place. They usually end up loving their crates which makes the transition into your home a much less stressful time for you and the puppy. The price of this training program is $1000. We have limited spots for training, so please let us know as soon as possible if this is something that your family would like to do. Whew!! That is a lot of information. Let me make it easy and give you a to do list: 1. Mark your calendar for puppy selection day and go home days. 2. Let us know if you would like to enroll your puppy in the early training program. 3. Sign up for TLC Pet Food. 4. Make vet appointment. 5. Buy supplies for your puppy. 6. Send me an email with your top 3 puppy selections on or before selection day. 7. Pay for your puppy promptly when you get the invoice.
Puppy selections take place in the order that the waiting list fees were received, so the early bird gets the worm!
Picking a Puppy
When Do I Get to Pick My Puppy?
Puppy selection takes place between 3 and 4 weeks. We will post photos and videos of the puppies on our website, Instagram and Facebook. Each person on the waiting list will need to email us their top 3 puppy picks. We will notify each person of which puppy they are getting within 1-2 days after the puppy selection day.
We do our very best to accommodate everyone on the list. However, should you not get one of the puppies that you want, you'll have the option to move to a future litter. The selection process and picking order is never set in stone. It is a fluid process and can get quite complicated. We will work with each one on the list and do our very best to make everyone happy!
Puppy selection takes place based off of the photos and videos that we post on our website, Instagram and Facebook. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer on-site or in person puppy selections as our puppies are raised at our home and our schedule is quite complex. However, we are always willing to help guide you in the selection process.
We no longer do formal temperament testing on our puppies, and let me give you a few reasons why.
1. In order to provide an unbiased temperament assessment, it really should not be done by the breeder who has spent so much time with the puppies.
2. 6 weeks is just too young to get a reliable temperament assessment.
3. Let's talk "nature v. nurture". Our puppies are raised in such an ideal environment. We work with them daily to make sure they receive the socialization and care that they need to reach their full potential. At 6 weeks, the main thing factoring into their temperaments is "nurture". Nature hasn't even had much of an opportunity to affect their temperament.
I hope this offers our families some reassurance and comfort to move forward to picking their puppy without "temperament assessment". The bottom line is that each one of our puppies have been raised, nurtured, cared for and loved in a way to set them up to be the best dogs that they can be, which is the best way to start!
Go Home Day
How Does Go Home Day Work?
Go home day is so much fun! As you can see on the sample litter itinerary (2 sections above) we give you as much advanced notice as possible of the go home dates for your litter. We try to send most of the puppies home on the same day, but we try our very best to be flexible if this day does not work well for your family.
If you are flying in to pick your puppy up, your airport options are:
Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP) 1 hour away
Charlotte Douglas (CLT) 2 hours away
Atlanta (ATL) 3 hours away
